Jack LaLanne, a True Fitness Pioneer Years Ahead of His Time

Every day people ask me “Should I eliminate carbs from my diet to lose weight?”, “Will the shake weight help tone up my arms?”, “Will acai juice help me lose weight?”, etc. It seems like every day there’s some new fitness fad, news report, or advertisement about health or nutrition that’s designed to scare or confuse us, and make us believe that this new fad, pill, or product is the new secret to getting the body we want. THAT’S BULL!

The actual principles to getting a leaner and healthier body are not new! They’re simple and obvious and have been around for many years. Jack LaLanne “the godfather of fitness” was promoting these principles back in the 1950’s. To this day, the principles he taught are still the best advice any trainer or nutritionist can teach you.

In memory of Jack’s death last weekend, I looked up some of his old videos on Youtube (There’s a lot of them). As I re-watch some of these videos, I’m amazed at how far ahead of his time he was (or should I say how far behind many of us are today). I thought I’d share some of his best stuff here with you. Watch some of these videos and get inspired. And remember some of his best quotes like “The only way you can hurt the body is not use it!”

Check these out, and then leave a comment below and tell me what you think? Did these videos inspire or motivate you? How do you find his teachings to compare to what you read or hear today? Leave your comments below.
